Shabbat Service & Lunch and Learn with student Rabbi Shira Singelenberg

  • The JCC Arts & Education Building 2 Millstone Campus Drive St. Louis, MO, 63146 United States (map)

Join us at The J or on Zoom for a special Shabbat morning service led by student Rabbi Shira Singelenberg. Shira will also lead our Torah discussion on parsha Tazriya/Metzora.

Immediately following the service and kiddush, Shira will wrap up our four-part education series with a Lunch and Learn program titled “Why is this Movement Different from All Other Movements?” She will discuss the Reconstructionist view of God and Jewish versus American culture wars. Attendees will also get a glimpse of what distinguishes Reconstructionist Judaism from other Jewish movements. A complimentary vegan box lunch with a gluten free option will be provided. Donations are welcome in support of this and future programs.

Shir Singelenberg is a native of Bethesda, MD. She received her BA from the University of Maryland. She is currently a third year student at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, where she is currently an intern for Hillel in Westchester, PA. Shira has become a familiar face at Shir Hadash having led High Holiday and occasional Shabbat services for us throughout the year. In the fall she will begin a two-year internship with us.

This program is the last of a four-part Community Education Series on Reconstructionist Judaism. It has been made possible, in part, by an Anything Grant from the Staenberg Family Foundation, a supporting foundation of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis.
